Dining & Shopping
The Chisos Mountains Lodge Restaurant and Patio has one of the most spectacular views in the state of Texas. Enjoy a glass of your favorite beverage and share an appetizer with a friend and enjoy the gorgeous view from our patio or restaurant.
We serve up a nice selection of Texas inspired entrees from steak to fish accompanied by a fresh selection salads on our soup and salad bar. Breakfast buffet is served every day from October through June and it's a wonderful way to gather your energy for a full day of sightseeing and hiking in the park. Be sure to request a Hikers Lunch to take with you as you explore this grand destination and it's a nice treat to enjoy a picnic lunch along the Rio Grande River.
The Restaurant opens at 7:00 am, perfect for the early risers who are ready to hit the trails before the crowds. Don't worry; we are also open until 4:00 pm for lunch for those who might need a late lunch (closed from 10:00 am to 11:00 am). The restaurant re-opens at 5:00 pm and will close at 8 pm or 9pm depending on the season for dinner.
For a cold beverage, snack, ice cream or food for a cook out, be sure to stop by one of our stores located at Castolon, Panther Junction, and Rio Grande Village.
The Curio in the Basin in the lobby of Chisos Mountains Lodge Restaurant offers gifts, cook books, pottery, jewelry, and souvenir shirts. For the birding enthusiasts there are regional bird books, binoculars, and hats for your adventures in the park. Don't miss the children's area for special souvenirs for the kids.
The Basin Convenience Store is stocked with groceries, sundries, and camping supplies. We offer an assortment of children's t-shirts and souvenir items plus it's a great place to pick up last minute items you might have left at home.
The La Harmonia at Castolon is on the west end of the park near Santa Elena Canyon. It is located in a historical building originally built as barracks in 1920 and was later converted for use as a general store and post office. Stop by, say "Hello" and check out the historic postal boxes. We also have cold beverages, ice cream, and basic camping items. And besides, you can see a pretty view of Santa Elena Canyon from here, too.
Rio Grande Village Store is located on the east side of the park next to the Rio Grande RV Park and Campground. After hiking Boquillas Canyon, exploring the wetlands or visiting the river, be sure to stop in and refuel. For those staying at the RV Park or campgrounds we have fuel (no diesel), propane (by appointment only), gifts, food items, and camping supplies. The store has pay showers and a coin laundry.
Another location in the park for fuel is at the Panther Junction Gas Station located near the Panther Junction Visitor Center. The gas station offers unleaded, premium, super and diesel. Be sure to grab a snack and get a final souvenir before heading out of the park.
The Boquillas Border Crossing has been re-opened after being closed for over ten years. This "pedestrian only" crossing between the United States and Mexico adds a new layer of fun and adventure to a Big Bend National Park visit. Ask the locals for shopping tips south of the border before crossing and don't forget passports. The crossing offers a unique opportunity to ride across the river in a row boat, or, if the water is low enough, wade across the Rio Grande! (Check with officials for river conditions.) Current posted hours to re-enter the US are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
